見た目は中学生ぐらいの可愛らしい少女であるが、魔族の王都、城塞都市ヴァンゼルドの主である正真正銘の魔王。
三本生えた悪魔の尻尾と、羊のように捩れた黒い角が特徴的。
フルネームが長いのと、ファーストネームの「プロヴァト」では響きが可愛くないということで、アズサからはミドルネームの「ペコラ」で呼ばれている（アニメ版では自分から「『ペコラ』と呼んでください」と頼んでいる）。
前魔王の娘で、魔王になった際に当時（個人的事情から）ヒラ役人だったベルゼブブを自分の右腕に等しい大臣に抜擢しているため、本編の時点で魔王になってからは約250～300年ほど経っており、少なくとも1000歳は超えている。それでも魔族の時間間隔で見ればまだ若輩らしい。
物腰は柔らかく、高いところの挨拶は好きじゃないと語る非常にフランクで親しみやすい性格。
一方でからかいやイタズラめいた事で他人を驚かせるのが好きで、自分の決めたことには強気で強引という、小悪魔的どころか魔王らしい鱗片も確かに有しており、本気を出した際の威厳・威圧・実力諸々は相当なもの。
王族としての権力も加わり、生まれた時から蝶よ花よと大切にされ敬われていたのだが、その反動か自身は誰かの妹分になりたいという性癖があり、自分より強いアズサのことを『お姉様』と呼んで慕う様になる。
ベルゼブブをヒラ役人から大臣に抜擢したのも、業績だけではなく姉役にできるのではという考えもあったが、本人の遠慮もあって残念ながらそこまでの関係にはならなかった。
また小説を読むのが好きで、姉妹物に憧れがあるほか、旅行ものも好む傾向がある。
そして気に入った小説の内容をあの手この手で再現しようしたり、狐獣人化するきのこをアズサに食べさせたりするなど、確信犯的にアズサや部下(ベルゼブブ)を振り回す。
ただし君主としての評判は良く、過激派や権威主義な貴族の反発なども跳ね除け、先代までの旧習を打ち破った名君として君臨している。
どうやら"個人的なワガママ"を許してくれる相手にだけは、ついついタガが緩んでしまう模様。
胸はイラストだと大きく見えるが、実際にはそうではなく見た目の年齢通りである（漫画版ではアズサと入浴時に「仕様です」と答えており、服が胸パッド付きか『寄せて上げる』機能があることが示唆されている）。
